Disneyland Trip Postponed
As the title says, the Disneyland trip has been postponed. We haven't picked a new date yet, but fear not, we will (Lord willing) be going this year. It really just didn't work out for a lot of people to go on the date that we originally chose. I think before we pick a new date we will have a meeting with the parents and see if we can come to an agreement on when would be the best time.
This also gives us some time to have a fund raiser (or two). I am still really excited about this trip and I hope you are too. I still want to get T-shirts ordered, so if you can send me your sizes that would be great.
Thanks
STORM Disneyland Trip 2010
At our very first meeting (before we even had a name) we sat down and threw out some ideas of activities (big and small) that we would like to do. Hands down the most requested one was a trip to Disneyland. Well, it looks like God has actually provided a way that we can do this. Disney is having a promotion this year where you volunteer a day of service and you get a free ticket to Disneyland. After looking online I have found what I think would be a fun and easy project that we can do to get a free ticket. The charity is called Project Linus and what we each need to do is make a no sew fleece blanket (see the video below for instructions). You are free to do any of the volunteer opportunities or buy a ticket if you choose. But each person who wants to go is responsible for getting their ticket. For more information and to register for the Give a Day Get a Disney Day promotion please visit (or have your parents visit) this website, Give a Day Get a Disney Day. You will find all of the details that you need to get your free ticket there.
Originally I thought that we could register as a group but it turns out only 8 people can register at a time, and they must be in the same family. Here is the most important rule that I could find in the list
You must be at least 18 years of age to sign up, and you may sign up a maximum of 8 additional members of your same household. Children must be at least 6 years of age to volunteer under this program and receive a theme park ticket. Children ages 6-17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when volunteering. Other age restrictions may apply to certain eligible volunteer opportunities.
The date we are planning for is Saturday May 22nd. If you think you will be able to make it please let me know so that I can get an idea of how many chaperons we need to recruit. My plan is to have 1 chaperons for every 5 youth. Also a head count will help with deciding on what type of transportation we will need.
As for transportation we are looking into several options at this point but we are really hoping to be able to do a charter of some kind.
I would also like to get us some t-shirts made. It will make it easier to identify your group when we are at the park. Please let me know your shirt size.
So for now if you are pretty certain you will be able to go, feel free to pursue getting your ticket. Don't procrastinate and wind up ticketless. I will post an update once we have decided on a firm date, as well as any other details. I hope you can all make it, it is sure to be a great time. If you have any questions please comment on this post or send me an email.
Stay Tuned,
